Worked examples

Concrete numbers and cases you can check against the tool above.

PNG illustration β†’ WebP for a landing page

A 1400Γ—900 PNG icon sheet is often 1.5–4 MB because PNG stores graphics losslessly. Converting to WebP at a high quality setting commonly drops that to a few hundred kilobytes while keeping sharp edges. Use JPEG instead only if the file is a photograph; JPEG is a poor fit for flat logos with text.

Screenshot β†’ JPEG for email

A retina screenshot saved as PNG can exceed 8 MB and bounce off mail servers. JPEG at quality 75–85 usually lands under 1 MB. You lose an alpha channel, which screenshots almost never need.

When to use Image Converter

Websites, email clients, and social platforms prefer different image formats. Converting locally means you can ship PNG for graphics with transparency, JPEG for photos, or WebP for faster pages β€” without waiting on uploads or worrying about a remote service storing your assets.

Common use cases

  • Prepare product photos as WebP for a storefront while keeping PNG masters for print.
  • Convert screenshots to JPEG before attaching them to size-limited email threads.
  • Batch-convert icons and UI assets when a CMS only accepts a specific format.
  • Turn client deliverables into the format your design tool opens most reliably.

Inputs and outputs

  • Input: PNG, JPEG/JPG, WebP (and other browser-readable image types)
  • Output: PNG, JPEG, WebP

Frequently asked questions

Will converting reduce image quality?
PNG is lossless. JPEG and WebP can use compression, so lower quality settings create smaller files with more compression artifacts.
Can I convert multiple images at once?
Yes. Add several files and convert them in one session, then download each result.
Do I need an account?
No. The converter is free to use in your browser with no sign-up.
